How Often Should You Get a Head Spa?

There is no universal answer, but there is a useful one. How to decide your own rhythm based on your scalp, your hair and how much stress you are carrying.

The honest answer is that it depends, which is unsatisfying. So here is the useful version instead.

The default: every four to six weeks

For most people, buildup returns to noticeable levels somewhere in that window. It is also roughly the rhythm at which a treatment stops feeling like an event and starts feeling like maintenance — which is when the benefit compounds.

If you want a number and nothing else: every five weeks.

When more often makes sense

Oilier scalps. If your roots feel heavy within a day or two of washing, buildup returns faster. Every three to four weeks tends to fit better.

Heavy product use. Dry shampoo, styling cream, texture spray — these accumulate at the scalp far more than most people realise.

Stressful stretches. Some guests book around deadlines, moves or difficult months rather than on a calendar. That is a perfectly good system.

When less often is fine

If your scalp is comfortable, your hair feels light and you are booking mainly for the hour of quiet, every two to three months is completely reasonable.

There is no cumulative effect you lose by spacing them out. A single head spa does what it does on the day.

A practical approach to starting

Book a 60-minute Japanese Head Spa first, because it is long enough to know whether you like the treatment.

Then wait. Notice when your scalp starts to feel heavy again, or when you next think I would like that hour. That gap is your interval.

Most people land between four and six weeks without being told to.

Start with one and find your own rhythm.

What about shorter sessions in between

The 30-minute ritual at $89 works well as a mid-cycle option: a focused cleanse and scalp massage without the full commitment of an hour.

Some guests alternate — a 60 every six weeks, a 30 in the middle. It is a good pattern if you like the treatment more than your calendar allows.

The part nobody says

Frequency is mostly a budget question dressed up as a wellness one.

At $89 to $249 a session, the honest advice is to book at whatever interval you can sustain without resenting it. A treatment you look forward to every two months does more for you than one you feel guilty about every three weeks.

Questions guests ask

Can I get a head spa too often?
It is unlikely to cause harm, but weekly visits are rarely necessary. Most people find every four to six weeks is where the benefit and the cost balance out.
Should I book more often if my scalp is oily?
Possibly. Oilier scalps rebuild buildup faster, so every three to four weeks can suit better. Tell us at your visit and we will give you an honest recommendation.
