What a head spa actually is
A head spa is not a hair wash with better lighting. It is a treatment built around the scalp — cleansing it properly, then working it slowly enough that the rest of you has time to catch up.
The scalp carries a remarkable amount of tension. Most people notice it only when someone finally releases it. That is the part guests tend to remember: not the products, not the technique, but the moment their shoulders drop.
The ritual takes between 30 and 120 minutes depending on how far you want to go. You leave with a clean scalp, clean hair, and the particular quiet that follows an hour of not being reachable.

Consultation
A short conversation about your scalp, your hair and anything you want us to know. Sensitivities, concerns, or simply how much you need to switch off.

Cleanse
A first cleanse lifts product, oil and everyday buildup. This is the step most hair washes never really complete.

Deep scalp treatment
The scalp is worked section by section, slowly. Not fast enough to be efficient — slow enough for your nervous system to notice.

Massage
Scalp, neck and shoulders. This is where most guests stop tracking time.

Rinse and condition
A thorough rinse, then conditioning chosen for your hair rather than for a shelf.

Finish
Dried and styled softly. You leave with clean hair and a scalp that feels like it belongs to someone calmer.

Can I come if I've never experienced a Japanese Head Spa before?
Absolutely — most of our guests are experiencing one for the first time. We explain everything before we begin, and there is nothing you need to know in advance. Just arrive and let us take it from there.
Will my hair get wet?
Yes. Cleansing is part of the ritual, so your hair is washed, rinsed and then dried and styled softly before you leave. You will not walk out with wet hair.
Do I need to wash my hair before my appointment?
No. Come exactly as you are — cleansing your scalp and hair is part of the experience.
Do I need to prepare beforehand?
Nothing at all. Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing, and let us know anything you would like us to keep in mind. That is the whole preparation.
Can I wear makeup?
Yes. A head spa focuses on the scalp, neck and shoulders, so your makeup stays untouched. If you are booking a facial as well, we will gently remove it as part of the cleanse.
Is it relaxing, or actually therapeutic?
It is a wellness and relaxation experience, not a medical treatment. What guests notice most is the release of everyday tension: a thoroughly cleansed scalp, slower breathing and a genuinely quiet hour. If you have a specific scalp or health concern, we would encourage you to speak with a healthcare professional.
How long does it take?
Our rituals run from 30 to 120 minutes. The 30-minute Head Spa is a focused reset, the 60-minute Japanese Head Spa is our most requested, and the 90 and 120-minute rituals add hot towels, hot stone and aromatherapy steam.
Is this suitable for sensitive scalps?
Usually, yes. Tell us when you book and we will adjust the products and the pressure to keep everything comfortable. If you have a scalp condition or any concern about it, please check with a healthcare professional first.
How often should I book?
Many guests come every four to six weeks. There is no rule — some book around stressful stretches, others simply when they need an hour to themselves.
