Why there is a head spa in Seminole.
Aurea Wellness Spa opened on May 17, 2026, built around the Japanese Head Spa, with facials, lashes and brows alongside it. How we arrived at that is more specific than a business plan.
It started with lashes and brows.
For years I worked in beauty — lashes and brows, mostly. It is precise work and I liked it. Then I came across head spa, and I trained with Vietnamese practitioners who showed me something I had not seen before: washing hair as part of a longer ritual, built around touch, scalp massage, water and time, rather than as the quick step before a haircut.
I was going through a stretch of ordinary, relentless stress at the time. Nothing dramatic — the kind most people are carrying. What surprised me was not that the ritual felt good. It was that for an hour everything went quiet, and I left calmer even though nothing about my circumstances had changed.
That is the reason Aurea exists. Not a mission statement. An experience I wanted other people to be able to have.
Then guests started describing something else.
We opened expecting to be a beauty business with an unusual specialty. What happened was less tidy than that.
Guests would come out of an hour in the room and have trouble describing it. They talked about their hair, but not only about their hair — about feeling like they had been somewhere, about a kind of quiet they had not had in a while. People kept reaching for words that were not beauty words.
That changed what we thought we were doing. Beauty and recovery had been separate categories in our heads. Our guests did not seem to experience them that way.
The question we are working on.
Modern life is good at keeping people stimulated and not very good at letting them stop. We are interested in a narrow version of that: how recovery from everyday stress becomes something deliberate, rather than something you get around to.
We have not figured that out. Aurea opened in May 2026 and we are at the beginning of the work.
What we have decided is the direction. Not a longer and longer list of procedures — we are not trying to become a spa that offers everything. The ambition is to get more rigorous: to keep studying stress and recovery, to keep refining the rituals we already offer, to keep listening to what guests actually describe, and to build around whatever turns out to matter over time.
It is a slower way to grow. It is the only version we are interested in.

How we work
Slow on purpose
Our rituals run from 30 to 120 minutes because time is what makes them work. Nothing here is designed to be efficient.
Hands, not machines
The experience is the attention. Every ritual is hands-on and it adapts as it goes — to how you are breathing, where you are holding tension, whether you would rather talk or not say a word. Not to a script.
A quiet room
By appointment only, with limited availability. The calm is not a coincidence — it is the reason we keep the schedule small.
